History  
  • 1972 was the year Ron Letellier started manufacturing un-welded oblongs, j-hooks, and other end fittings for local distributors.
     

    These are the first two gas fired forges used by Letellier.
    This is at our original building in South Holland, IL.

  • Illinois Sling and Specialty, Inc. was incorporated in 1974 as a direct sales company of wire rope, nylon, and chain products. At this time, Mr. Letellier moved his operations to a 2,000 sq. ft. building in South Holland, IL. A variety of special hooks and lifting devices were manufactured at this new facility.

  • In 1976, Mr Letellier separated operations from Illinois Sling and Specialty to form Letellier Material Handling Equipment (LMHE).  LMHE was incorporated in May 1978, with a mission to expand the distribution network and establish a line of standard rigging products, mostly upper and lower end fittings for wire rope, nylon, and chain slings.

  • Between the years of 1978 and 1994, LMHE continued to prosper and grow. Significant investments and improvements were made in equipment and the facility to support the needs of our growing customer base. The facility was increased to 12,000 sq. ft.  Projects included work for Naval Mine Warfare and NASA.

  • In 1998, LMHE moved to it's present location which comprises of (2) buildings totaling 30,000 sq. ft. with (4) 10 ton overhead crane systems. LMHE is located at 16650 State Street, South Holland, Illinois.
